Happy February! February?? Can you believe it? I don’t know if I will ever get used to how rapidly time passes after having children. I’m not quite sure if it has to do with the constant trips to Target for diapers, our never-ending jam-packed schedules, or the lack of sleep (probably a combination of the above) – but I seriously feel like I blink and all of a sudden another week has gone by.
We kicked off January in true fashion with a train ride around our neighborhood! One of our friend’s has a son who is a few weeks younger than Noah, so we have been fortunate enough to get to celebrate birthdays together for the past two years. We also don’t have an excuse to miss each other’s birthday parties, because we live in the same community.
This year, Noah’s friend had a train theme birthday party and Noah was OBSESSED with the train, so we rode around in it three different times. The entire week following the party he woke up asking if we could ride the train. Talk about dedication.
*Please note that Emmett is tucked away under my sweater.
Meanwhile, Emmett decided to keep aging and turned 10 months old in January! I thought Noah’s first year went by quickly, but Emmett’s first year triumphs its speed in every way imaginable.
This kid is so full of joy that it amazes me daily. He is always smiling, dancing, and clapping his hands. His vocabulary is growing constantly and he signs regularly (I have to brag about this, because this sweet babe doesn’t get nearly as much one on one time that Noah did). The most exciting development however, would have to be that he FINALLY had his first tooth break through!!! There is hope for the kid yet.
Did I mention that Emmett is also a Bachelor fan?? He was practically on the edge of his boppy during the premiere.
I’ve decided that one of my absolute favorite things about having kids, is doing things together as a family. Yes, sometimes it can be a lot of work, and nothing ever really goes according to plan, but we always have the best time and make some really incredible memories.
This last Friday I decided to take the boys and meet JD at his office for an impromptu dinner date in Downtown Fort Worth. I have really started to love Sundance Square since they have done so many renovations over the last couple of years to make it significantly more family friendly. They have added a ton of cute restaurants and great outdoor patios. Bonus, they have also installed a splash pad!
While it was too cold to run around in the water, that didn’t rain on boy’s parade.
The boys are still taking swim lessons every weekend, and have steadily been improving their water skills. Noah is getting ready to skip ahead to the next class, which makes me excited but also sad, because that means him and Emmett will no longer be in the same class. However, the competitive side of me is secretly really proud that he is getting to move up ahead of time, and grateful that we found something that he really enjoys doing.
I have also started planning Emmett’s first birthday party and let’s just say, it’s going to be super sweet! Any guesses??
