I realize a lot of people tend to brush Valentine’s Day under the rug, but I am personally a big fan. I’m a sucker for love – I love love, and now that I am a mom, I have even more reason’s to celebrate.

Since my husband and I are in a season of growing our family, we don’t usually have a ton of one-on-one time; and when we do finally get a few minutes to ourselves, we typically just sit quietly next to each other and let our brains turn to mush (which is actually really fantastic). While being a parent to two kiddos, ages two and under, can be absolutely exhausting, it has also been the funnest time of my life.

I don’t know what it is about having children, but when they’reΒ around it forces you to seeΒ things with a childlike mentality. Every holiday, every adventure, every event is almost like you’re experiencing it for the first time all over again. It also doesn’t help that I really like going all out for just about everything. I just want to create awesome special memories for our littles…even if they may not remember it.

  1. We do celebrate with our kiddos….in just a few years they will have Valentines of their own **SIGH** but we do try to get out just the two of us later that week, avoid the crowds too =D

  2. Adorable photo’s!!! With 4 kids we tend to focus on them. Example Brenton taken Kennadi to Valentines Day Dance (super excited to dress my not so girly girl up.) They will wake up to goody bags of love.

    • Thank you, Tiffany!! What kind of stuff do you like to surprise your kiddos with? PS. My heart just seriously melted when you said Brenton was taking your daughter to the dance. Hope you guys have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  3. Love the pics! It makes me excited for my shoot this weekend β˜ΊοΈπŸ’— We plan on grilling and enjoying some WINE!

  4. I just had a similar conversation with my husband about Valentine’s Day. As a kid, my mom made every holiday so much fun for us kids. I told the hubs that I feel like as a parent, we should be the people responsible for making holidays magical and special for kids.

I think valentine’s day is such a great holiday for kids…hearts, love, pink and red, glittery stuff, sharing valentine’s cards with their friends. It’s so kid friendly!

We’ll be celebrating with little valentine’s day surprises for the kids and heart shaped theme breakfast items!

    Love the new site name.

    • I have decided that we are holiday soul sisters!! I could not agree more with everything you said. I’m seriously a sucker for holidays, and I love making things fun and special for our kids. What kind of surprises are you planning for your kids?? And thank you so much for your sweet support – I sincerely appreciate it!

  5. love this photo shoot! So cute! My daughter was born the 15th, so we are having her birthday party Sunday morning.. V-day party fun! πŸ˜‰ (With a “Frozen” theme.. of course!)

    • Awww…that is so sweet!! Our oldest was born in December, and we are always “competing” with Christmas. I would love to know how the birthday party goes. I think it would be a ton of fun to be able to celebrate at Valentine’s!

  6. Isn’t that the truth. When your children are young just getting a little time of quiet is the best ever! The pictures of your kids are darling. It really looked like they had a blast during the photo shoot! Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day!!!

    • Thank you so much, Jenn! The boys definitely had a fun time during their shoot. And YESSS…those few minutes of quiet time is a serious treat!! Hope you have a great weekend. πŸ™‚

  7. Your boys are just precious! We don’t typically do anything special for Valentine’a day. I’ll usually get something small for the boys, and a valentine’s day card. Have a fantastic weekend!
