When you’re expecting your third boy in under four years, you start to wonder if people think attending a baby shower might be a little overkill. Thankfully, JD and I are surrounded by friends and family who think every life moment is just as special and worth celebrating!
For baby brother, one of my very dear friends threw us one of the sweetest (pun intended) sprinkles anyone could imagine. We wanted to do something different and make it fun, but also keep it casual, so we decided to celebrate with an ice cream social at Melt, one of our local ice cream shops in Fort Worth. The weather was great, and their outdoor area was perfect for entertaining.
Rebecca kept the spread simple and perfect with a classic cheese tray, veggies, hummus, and fruit. All of the guests were also given a ticket when they arrived, which permitted them one free ice cream.
What was great about making it a come and go event, is our family and friends were able to fit it easily in to their busy schedules without feeling pressure to take a ton of time out of their day. This also meant that I was able to really spend one-on-one time with people since not everyone arrived all at once.
At the end of the afternoon, I was left feeling completely overwhelmed with gratitude for our loved ones who came and sprinkled us with love. You would actually be surprised at the things that you still need, even when you’re on your third baby. Not to mention all of the awesome new things that they manage to create to make that first year so much easier – plus, you can never have too many diapers!
We are now only 6 weeks away from our due date, and I still feel like we have a ton to do. In addition to our now weekly doctor appointments and normal routine, we are still on the hunt for the perfect car that can fit our growing family. Oh, and did I mention that we have done absolutely nothing in regards to putting a nursery together? I guess when it’s your third, and you realize they are going to sleep in your room for a bit after you bring them home, you no longer feel rushed to get their room together. Thankfully, we have all summer with zero obligations, so I’m really looking forward to just taking our time and enjoying a few months of “taking it easy” before the craziness of the new school year hits.
PS. I plan to share our 34 week bumpdate this week, so stay tuned! Hope you all have an amazing Monday. XO
